More images from cookbook - set 1
We have just received all the hi-res photos taken while working on the cookbook. This is a treasure of striking images by the highly gifted Richard Learoyd.
Richard was generous enough to give us all the images, including many that didn't make it to the book.
Over the next few months we will be publishing here a trickle of photographs, with the relevant pages in the book. This is meant to encourage those of you who haven't got the book yet to rush out and buy it. The others we encourage to try more and more recipes.
Pan-fried sea bass on pita with labneh, tomato and preserved lemon - page 144

Sweet broccolini with tofu, sesame and coriander - page 39

One "problem" with the stunning photographs in the cookbook is that readers are often left wondering what it is they show. Those cakes on the centre left of page 160 look fantastic to me but, sadly, there is indication of what they are and no matching recipe is provided. I guess we'll just have to wait for the next book...
Keith, as you rightly point out, not all images include recipes. Many of the photographs were taken in our shops in order to capture the unique atmosphere. There's just not enough pages in the book to cover everything sold.
I finished reading the book (trying recipes will have to wait) only 10 minutes ago. Love it, including the photography. Very creative and not at all your predictable stylized cook book stuff (not that there's anything wrong with that when it's done well).
Richard Learoyd has especially done such a brilliant job capturing the atmosphere - many photographs make me simply want to reach out and grab a cake or whatever sumptuous treat is on display. I have never visited Ottolenghi but these pictures are enough to make me dream about it. You are definitely on my list next time I come to London!
Thanks else! I hope you come to London soon.
