Cooking classes
Over the past few years we have been nurturing a close collaboration with Leiths school of food and wine, now based in Chiswick. As well as guest chef classes given by Yotam Ottolenghi to the students at the school, we take on students (and sometimes also teachers) for work experience, some of which end up working with us permanently.
As part of this close collaboration, we also offer monthly hands-on cookery classes at Leiths. These sessions, held on Saturday mornings, offer a brilliant opportunity for our customers and fans to come and get a first-hand Ottolenghi cooking experience with our chefs and the highly qualified teachers of Leiths. The Saturday workshops start at 9.30. They are fun and are conducted in a very relaxed manner. You don’t need to know much about cooking and can come on your own or with a friend or a partner.

The cooking is done in couples and at the end, around 1pm, tables are laid for everybody to enjoy their creations with a glass of wine.
The cost of one class is £115. To book please call Leiths School of Food and Wine (020 7937 3366) or book via their website www.leiths.com

Dear Ottolenghi
I would love to sign up for one of your cookery courses in the Autumn 2008 as a birthday gift for a friend. Do you know when you might be offering the Vegetarian Morning again?
I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards
Sandy Ingram
I've recently moved to York and am craving all your vegetarian meals, particularly the polenta with mushrooms and taleggio featured above. I have a small baby, so am unlikely to make it to one of your vegetarian classes (even if they didn't all sell out) - so when, please, is your recipe book coming out?
Many thanks.
Dear Grace,
Sorry we are not closer to New York.
The book is out now! I hope you like it and use it.
Yotam
Dear Ottolenghi
We are a family of 5 - Mum, Dad and three daughters aged 25, 27 and 30 - we all love your food at the Islington restaurant.
Please advise when you next have a vegetarian cookery class - they would make wonderful Christmas gifts for our daughters and they could then come and cook us a lovely meal!!
Kind regards
Sally
Sally, we have classes at Leiths in the autumn. Check out this link:
http://www.ottolenghi.co.uk/blog/2009/02/13/autumn-09-cooking-classes/
However, the classes tend to fill up very quickly and might be full by now.
I suggest you check our website regularly. During the summer we should be advertising our next set of classes for early 2010.
I hope to see your daughters after Christmas.
Dear Yotam and Sami
On a recent trip to Boston, Massachusetts I attended a cooking class which used your cook book for the menu. It was run by a very well known chef in the States called Barbara Lynch. She was so excited about your food as we all were by the time we finished. (Roasted butternut squash with burnt aubergine, kosheri, lamb with fig and goats cheese salad and plum clafoutis.) It was delicious. We were all given a copy of your book and I have since cooked and cooked from it. I love it. I promised her that I would eat in your restaurant and tell her all about it. I am looking forward to my next trip up to London to pay you a visit!
Beth
Thanks Beth,
Let us know when you're here.
I would like to attend any of your cookery courses. Could you please let me know how I can put my name down on waiting lists for the next courses available.
Many thanks.
Debra
Debra, I am afraid it isn't that easy. The classes are over-booked and waiting lists are long. Soon we intend on introducing a new system for 2011 that will give everybody an equal chance to come on a course. I will post a blog on the website over the next few weeks.
