Leiths cooking classes - New booking system

Due to the phenomenal response to the Saturday classes we run together with Leiths School for Food and Wine, we had to come up with a new booking system with greater clarity and, hopefully, eliminating the frustration of the long waiting list.
Basically, a new list of courses will be advertised every six months. After several weeks, Leiths will open their phones for bookings over two clearly designated days. Those who don’t manage to secure a place in those two days will, unfortunately, have to wait for the next time. To start with, Leiths will restrict booking to one course per person calling.
This may seem a bit harsh but we believe this is the most effective and fairest way to ease the disappointment created by the existing system, where courses are booked out as soon as they are advertised and before many can’t even get a chance to check whether they are available or not.
Here is the system in detail:
• Leiths’ website and the Ottolenghi site will make it clear when the next menus and dates are going to be displayed.
• The new menus will be displayed for several weeks before booking starts.
• The website will give two dedicated booking dates for the next series of classes.
• You will need to make bookings by telephone to Leiths School of Food and Wine on 02087496400 between 9.00am and 4.00pm on those dates.
• You may book for yourself and one friend if you wish.
• When the places are all full, Leiths will then take a waiting list of 15 people.
• Gift vouchers for Ottolenghi courses will only be available during the 2 days of bookings.
The next Ottolenghi menus and dates will be on the Leiths website and Ottolenghi website from 20th of September 2010.
You will be able to book onto these courses if you call Leiths on 02087496400 on the 20th and 21st of October, 9am – 4pm, or until places run out.
Thank you so much for supporting Ottolenghi classes at Leiths and we are sorry such a formal arrangement has been necessary, but we hope you understand and find it easier to use.

Dear Yotam,
I am an avid admirer of your style of cooking. Please open a shop in St Albans-Hertfordshire, this vibrant ancient roman town with a beautiful cathedral, tower clock, park with roman ruins and twice weekly popular market (wed and sat) needs a stylish restaurant like Ottolenghi. Just make a visit any day of the week and see for yourself how crowded and busy it is. If you walk down George Street with boutique shops you will end up in Fishpool street with stylish character houses....we need a shop like yours in George street. We have Carluccio's in Christopher place but nothing like yours.
Regards,
Dilniya
Dilniya, Thanks for the suggestion. We aren't planning new Ottolenghi branches but will keep in mind.
Dear Yotam ~ what an inspiration of colour and life your food and philosophy is! Please consider opening a shop in Edinburgh ~ it's a magical international city and we would be so happy if you were here with us!
Dear Yotam,
a year ago I was on the hunt for THE recipe for a chocolate cake for my café in Hamburg, Germany. Browsing through Waterstones Cooking departement I came across "the cookbook" and was absolutely amazed by your compositions, especially the chocolate fudge cake. Back at home I adapted the recipe to our size of baking tin and made it straight away. It was absolutely devine! Our guests agree: The chocolate fudge cake is our bestseller. People travel real far to get it here.
We have now started to make upside down Banana (Pear) caramel cake which is just as gorgeous. And we are sure it will find its place in our cake line up.
Thank you so much for your creativity that helps us staying unique here.
Silke
PS.: I will try and book into one of your cooking classes on Sept. 20
Silke, hope to see you at one of the classes next year!
i'm a huge fan of your food & recipes. i've been looking for a good financier cake - just the typical one nothing complicated or modified but i can't find a patisserie in london that makes them. i checked your holland st branch and they informed me that they make a coffee version but its not always available. where can i find a plain financier? i use to buy it from a shop on queens way a few years back and ever since it closed i can't find the cake in london
I am looking forward to the new Ottolenghi menus! Absolutley amazing cuisine and taught in a great environment.
Reem, I am afraid I don't have the answer for you. We make fruit financiers now, but they are not quite like what you are after.
