    28/1: Meanwhile, in the office…

    on Westbourne Grove and at Otto Motcomb Street we are carrying on, business as usual, as if nothing out of the ordinary is happening: tastings, meetings, cocktail sippings, long theoretical discussions about this that and the other: how many chefs on the shift, will the host take the coat and hang it on the wall, or will the customer do is, is the toilet practical… Reality is about to hit us next week, when it will be us, not the builders (well, them as well for now) trying to make heads and tails of the new space.

    28/1: My God! It’s really coming along now. Kitchen suddenly looks like a space where one day food would actually be produced. Well, at least to us. Although in the pictures it all looks pretty serene, there are dozens of workmen on site now struggling not to step on each others’ backs, toes and heads, in a last minute effort to finish and get out of there. We are supposed to move in next week!

    21/1: Poor Niall - our bar hero - now it’s his time to take some of the infamous Ottolenghi critical lingo. Cocktails are no exception. Ginger beer? No. More pistachio? Yes. More rum? Yes. Lemon? Maybe. Ginger ale? Yes. Vanilla? No No. Cocktail finalised. Yes!!!!!
