I hope it's OK to ask here, I have a question about adapting a recipe you gave in the Guardian, the "Hot and Sour Mushroom soup" -
Can I replace the mushroom assortment with what is available in "shufersal"? And is there anything I can substitute for corriander root? (I've never seen it around).
The soup looks amazing, I've got to get a supply of lime leaves.

@Shari, any odd selection of mushrooms will work. Coriander roots are there on most bunches of coriander that you buy (unless they've been cut off). The roots are small and delicious but if you can't get then, don't worry. The recipe will still work. Good luck!
I am drooling over the pictures. I am fascinated by the marinated mantis shrimps with chilli and garlic. Are they raw? And what about the small crabs on the background?
The picture with the 'menu non available in this shop' made my day :)
Your pictures are wonderful! Makes me feel like I was there! Now I'm really hungry!
Just wanted to say that we came to Ottolenghi (Islington) for brunch last weekend - and it was fabulous - worth every mile from deepest, darkest Cornwall! Ottolenghi has been the inspiration for our cafe in Perranuthnoe - we opened in November, so early days....- and it was wonderful to come to the real place instead of scrutinizing every picture and page of your glorious cookbooks (oh yes - we have every one!). Thank you for your generosity and passion, and if ever you're in deepest, darkest......
@Caffettiera, @Suzanne, I miss the fish sauce!
@Jenni and Lisa, a very warm THANK YOU!
Your pictures have actually increased my heart rate with excitement! I'll be in Bangkok for 2 weeks with work and cannot wait to sample all it has to offer. Any suggestions on the best things to try? I'll be taking my camera and snapping as many tasty food shots as possible. The durian looks fantastic as do the huge prawns.
I just recently graduated from London and have been living on your delicious food for the past few years! I just moved back to Bangkok last month, and is craving your salads like crazy. So thought I'd check out your blog then saw that you have been in Thailand recently!! I would really love to show you the local food scene next time you are over again!! Would be my honour. Will there be any future projects in Asia anytime soon? Also congratulations on NOPI!!
Thanks @Anneka.
@Ploy, thank you for the invite! May take you up on it in the future.
Hello - congratulations on NOPI - can't wait to get back to London from HK to try it out! Also - you should open an outpost in Hong Kong.. there is a definite niche for 'your' type of food here!
@Aga, one never knows...
If only we had street food like they do in Thailand.
Hmm wish I could use what they all use for cooking theire food
Following the unbelievable Journal of Jerusalem of last night's showing and intro to your philo have unhestatingly sent your credentials onto relatives in Hawaii. Now to Nopi!
@ nicola, thanks for sending us global!
